New Designs

As I was looking at my mini shawl number two today I noticed that there were major differences between shawl 1 and 2.  I find it simply amazing what the addition of a stitch or two can make in the overall design. So instead of 1 mini shawl patterns there will be 3.  Since my arthritis got the better of me today, I will get the first one published tomorrow. Number 2 should follow shortly as I have knit 48 grams of a 100 gram ball of yarn.

Time to call it a night so I will be productive tomorrow.

Post Surgery Progress

This is my frist real knitting project that has been started after my right hand surgery on Tuesday. I have 2 new outfits that require skinny scarf’s. The first one is 15.5 yards of hand spun wool.

The pattern is simple. Cast on 5 stitches on US size 17 knitting needles. Knit every row until I have just enough yarn for the cast off. The yarn is just shy of worsted weight.

A New Pattern

Today I added a new pattern to my Ravelry Shop. I have found that when I use 3 different cameras to take pictures, the pictures go to 3 different places in the computer memory. John says he has an easy fix for this. It took me 3 days to transfer the pattern from my iPad to the main computer and add the picture, I could have knit this pattern at least 3 times in the time it took to transfer the pattern. I know that this is a winter hat, made with bulky yarn. When the high is 111 for the day, I find that releasing a winter hat pattern adds a bit of fun to the day. It's a Tucson thing, where else do you go to celebrate the first day of 100 degree weather of the season?

The hat is called Grandma's Winter Hat and my friend Jimmy was gracious enough to be my model. This is the link to Grandma's Winter Hat . Even though it is listed on Ravelry you will be able to view and purchase this pattern with this link. It will fit teenages through adults. If you are in a country outside the United States, use this link to  Loveknitting.com , you can find this pattern and 5 of my other patterns. At Love Knitting you will also be able to buy the yarn and supplies to knit this pattern.

Squirrel

Today did not go as planned, but it was very productive anyway.  My closet floor got cleaned and a few more things were purged from my closet. My purses were organized, with the larger ones going up on the closet shelf and the smaller ones hanging.  I did not get any spinning or the new pattern posted to Raverly. I did manage to do a bit of knitting though.

I did manage to get over 13,00 steps on my fit bit today.  That is a little over 5 miles of walking with most of it done doing house work. I also managed to gift 2 project bags and a couple of skeins of yarn.   Eric thinks that I should have given more yarn away.

I think that I will call it a night so that I can get more things besides sleeping done tomorrow.

Knitting and More

Eric is still sick and tommrow is up in the air.  He is currently running a fever. I am hoping that Eric's fever breaks tonight and that he feels better tomorrow. I on the other hand feel much better.  My back is finally starting  to feel better after the December accident. I guess everything gets better In its own time.

On the knitting front my new design is coming out much better than I hoped.  It has a lot of body and swish. I am really loving the Dream in Color Marino Cashmere blend. I also got 8 more inches knit today. This might just be the pattern that will be given at the March Old Pueblo Knitters luncheon and fashion show. I will include a link when the web site is updated.  My plan is to add the second skein of yarn tomorrow. Don't worry this pattern will be suitable for a beginning knitting project.

Inspiration Comes at Strange Times

Eric is still sick. Eric is tired of being sick and I am tired of Eric being sick. I am exhausted. So I started working on a new knitting pattern to try to relax.  Yes, there is a large disconnect to most people between Eric being sick and a new knitting design. Sometimes I just find it very relaxing to play with yarn. Sometimes it just gets ripped out. Sometimes I put it in the charity pile. Very rarely does it result in a pattern. Yes it is a very easy one with lots of texture. It is a one skein project. This one might just be a little out there for most people, but it is very fun to knit. I just have to finish up the sample and add the narrative about how this pattern came about. Take a picture or two. Then edit the final draft.  Hopefully it will be out sometime this week.

A Very Busy Day

Today Eric had no day program.  I had a to do list from he double toothpicks.  With 10 loads of laundry and 50% of a pattern to finish writing.   I must admit that I fell short on finishing the laundry, load 8 is now in the dryer.  Eric was watching PBS Kids and I was getting distracted by Clifford the Big Red Dog and Curious George.  My solution was to give Eric a Sesame Street marathon.  For some reason I can write with Sesame Street on and not get distracted.

I managed to get the pattern transfered from my iPad to the Dell computer.  From the apple words program to Microsoft office without help from John. After reformatting the pattern and doing spell check I realized that I had forgotten to add punctuation. At one point I felt like I wanted to channel e.e.cummings.  One hour later everything was done, including adding the picture.  Unfortunately, it is sideways on the blog.

After dinner I managed to get the pattern uploaded to Ravelry.com and love knitting.com.  I will try to get it on Etsy tomorrow.  The pattern is called Cactus Washcloth.  I based it on the saguaro cactus that I view when sitting at the kitchen table.  It is also my first reversible piece.

In between all of that, I also managed to clean house and put a few things away.  All the laundry, except the load currently drying in the dryer, is folded and put away.
